Porn link on toy dolls: Is there now five million euros in compensation for buyers?

Los Angeles (USA) - At the beginning of November, toy manufacturer Mattel made an embarrassing faux pas in the USA that could now prove very expensive in court.

To coincide with the premiere of the movie "Wicked", toy manufacturer Mattel launched a toy doll on the market.

Apparently by mistake, the toy manufacturer did not print the link to the new movie "Wicked" on the back of the toy figures, but a link to a porn site. Instead of "wickedmovie.com", only "wicked.com" was printed on the packaging.

According to a report by"The Guardian", Holly Ricketson has now filed a class action lawsuit with the Los Angeles District Court.

According to Ricketson, her daughter showed her the "hardcore photos" on the website. Both her daughter and herself are said to have suffered emotional damage as a result of the images.

In her lawsuit, Holly is seeking at least five million dollars in damages for all buyers.

According to the lawsuit, the manufacturer Mattel disregarded Californian consumer protection laws and accepted a violation of these laws by selling the dolls.

According to the lawsuit, there has been no refund of the purchase price since the recall on November 11.

The toy company, which also manufactures the "Barbie" dolls and the "Hotwheels" toy cars, has not yet provided any information on the lawsuit itself.

However, she apologized to the buyers in a statement. At the same time, it pointed out that the toy was fully functional despite the incorrect link on the back and that a return was therefore not necessary.

All the products that were the subject of a complaint have been repackaged by the manufacturer and can now be purchased again in stores and online without an offensive link.
