Reunion warms so many hearts: Boy with Down syndrome has brother back after months
Salt Lake City (Utah) - People with Down syndrome are popularly known as sunshine children. The reason for this is their often infectious good mood, which many a curmudgeon could take a leaf out of their book. A good example of this is fourteen-year-old Jack from Salt Lake City, Utah. In a TikTok clip, the teenager, who has Down's syndrome, warms so many hearts with his joy at being reunited with his big brother Blake.

The curious video went viral on St. Nicholas Day and has since reached almost five million clicks. It has also received more than 400,000 likes, complemented by countless heart emojis in the comments section.
The touching clip begins a few minutes before Blake returns to his parents' house for a few days after three months at college. His younger brother is extremely excited and wound up at this point.
He joyfully runs through the house and finally pulls open the door. Then he shouts enthusiastically: "Brother!" as the student comes around the corner. What follows is such an intimate embrace that the two young men almost fall down.
"Seeing Jack's pure joy when he saw Blake brought tears to my eyes. Their bond is so genuine and heartwarming - it's one of those moments you just want to freeze," said the couple's mother, Kimberly DowDell, 47, in an interview with Newsweek this week.
Meanwhile, the success of their video is no accident.

DowDell regularly shares videos with Jack on TikTok.
There she wants to put Down syndrome in perspective and show what a wonderful life you can lead despite this congenital genetic defect.
"From the moment Jack was born, his brothers had him totally wrapped around their fingers," said DowDell, who has four children in total.
She added: "I feel so blessed to see how much my boys love each other. Their affection reminds me how important family is and how even the simplest moments - like sharing a Slurpee or playing games - can bring so much joy."
