Santa shoots 54-year-old man: Camera films bloody deed

Kanash (Chuvashia/Russia) - A store owner in Russia was shot dead in broad daylight in his own store. The killer disguised himself as Santa Claus. A surveillance camera filmed everything.

The scenes that unfolded on Thursday in a small DIY store in the Russian city of Kanash are unbelievable.

As the magazine AIF reports, a man dressed as Santa Claus (Father Frost in Russian) entered the store in the afternoon with a firm intention. His victim: 54-year-old store owner Yuri Surakin.

Images from a surveillance camera show the Santa killer walking around the store, the later victim speaks to the supposed Santa and asks for a selfie.

When they are both alone in the store, the perpetrator takes a double-barrel shotgun out of his costume, approaches the sales counter and shoots Yuri Surakin. The 54-year-old immediately collapses. The murderer then walks slowly out of the store and manages to escape.

Yuri Surakin was pronounced dead on the spot. He leaves behind four children and a grieving wife.

What followed was an extensive manhunt for the killer. Special units from the Russian Ministry of the Interior tracked down the man the next morning in the village of Wutabosi and arrested him. He was later handed over to the police.

The suspect is said to be 71-year-old Valery V., a businessman from the region and former operator of a shopping center, reports the Telegram channel Shot.

According to the investigators, the victim is said to have been in considerable debt to the suspect.

The Santa Claus killer was remanded in custody. He will probably soon have to answerfor murder .
