On Friday, the official Instagram account published a reaction to the 32-year-old's latest video, in which she cried about the harsh deportation of undocumented immigrants - she herself has Mexican roots.

As People reports, three women criticized the singer in the clip. Their children had been killed by illegal immigrants.

"When you watch this video, it's hard to believe she's really serious because she's an actress," said one of the mothers, Alexis Nungaray, in response to Gomez's video.

Tammy Nobles adds: "I'm so happy that Trump won. I'm so happy that this is one of the first bills that will help with immigration." She did not name a specific bill.

"I just feel like it's a ploy to deceive people and gain sympathy for lawlessness," said Patty Morin, the third woman in the clip.

A study conducted last September by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) found that "illegal immigrants are arrested less than half as often as US-born citizens for violent and drug offenses and only a quarter as often for property offenses".

The video posted by the singer on Monday, which she deleted herself shortly afterwards, spread rapidly on social media.

"All my people are being attacked, the kids. I don't understand. I'm so sorry, I wish I could do something, but I can't. I don't know what to do. I'll try anything, I promise," the 32-year-old said in tears in the clip.

Sam Parker, a Republican politician, also criticized her for the clip and called for Gomez herself to be deported.
