Shattered private life: Cybertruck driver sent strange message to ex-girlfriend

Nevada (USA) - After the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck in Las Vegas , a personal crisis is increasingly being suspected as the motive, as more and more details about the perpetrator's disrupted private life and ex-partners become known.

37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger , who shot himself in the head and blew himself up outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year's Day, had sent a series of text messages to his ex-girlfriends just days before.

As the Denver Gazette reports, in one message to Alicia Arritt, whom he dated from 2018 to 2021, he wrote that he had rented a Tesla Cybertruck and felt "like Batman". He continued to keep in touch until New Year's Eve, sending text messages and sharing photos and videos of the vehicle.

According to Alicia, it felt like a child bragging about their new toy and she was surprised to suddenly hear from him again.

The two met in 2018 when they were serving together in the military. At the time, Alicia was an Army nurse stationed at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, while he was in the Special Forces.

Did Matthew Livelsberger suffer from war trauma?

As his ex-girlfriend Arritt reports, Matthew's behavior changed in 2019 after he returned from a deployment with a severe traumatic brain injury.

The consequences of the injury seemed to weigh increasingly heavily on him: he withdrew more and more, became increasingly distant and showed clear signs of depression, which remained untreated.

This change affected not only his personal well-being, but also his relationship with Arritt.

As he focused more and more on his career, he became emotionally distant from her, which eventually led to the end of their relationship.

A broken private life as the trigger for the crime?

Just a few days earlier, his wife, Jennifer Davis, had left him after she suspected him of infidelity. The two had been married since 2022 and had a daughter together.

Shortly after his separation from Arritt, Matthew met his last wife, Jennifer Davis. The two married in 2022 and had a daughter together.

But just a few days before the tragic act, Jennifer left him after suspecting him of infidelity.

This was not the first marriage to fail for Matthew: his first wife Sara Livelsberger separated in 2017 after years of conflict. A friend of hers described the relationship as toxic and unhealthy.

Investigators initially assumed that Matthew's death could have been politically motivated.

However, the more details about his increasingly disrupted private life come to light, the more the question arises as to whether a personal crisis could have been the actual trigger for the crime.
