USA - She only wanted to have her butt implants removed: A mother dies during plastic surgery because her doctor was a fraud!

María Paz Peñaloza (31) died a few weeks after a botched operation in the US city of New York.

As the New York Post reported, she was initially declared brain dead. Just over a week ago, life support was then withdrawn.

The sister of the deceased stated that María went to see the alleged surgeon Felipe Hoyos-Foronda on the recommendation of a friend.

However, she had to be taken away by ambulance shortly after the operation. The paramedics tried in vain to resuscitate the 31-year-old for two hours - in the end, she was declared brain dead.

While María was in hospital, a friend drove back to the clinic to pick up her things. There she found out from the landlord what had happened and that Hoyos-Foronda was not a doctor at all - she immediately informed the local police .

The fake surgeon tried to flee to Colombia, but was arrested at the airport.

The public prosecutor's office now suspects that María died of lidocaine poisoning. Although the drug is considered safe, it can be life-threatening if the dose is too high.

Felipe Hoyos-Foronda was charged with second-degree aggravated assault and unlicensed practice of a profession. It is not yet clear whether the charges will be intensified following the death of the 31-year-old.
