Shock at Christmas market: chain carousel crashes to the ground from a height of 55 meters

Birmingham (Great Britain) - A merry Christmas market visit in Birmingham ended with a trip to hospital for passengers on a chain carousel.

Last Thursday evening, the "Star Flyer" crashed at "Britain's biggest German Christmas market".

As theDaily Mail reported, the chain carousel suddenly crashed from a height of 55 meters during the ride and is said to have plummeted to the ground.

All the rides were immediately closed and the Christmas cheer was gone.

Numerous rescue workers immediately arrived at the scene of the accident. Firefighters tried to free the ride's passengers from their entangled seats.

Two women were taken to a nearby hospital after the accident, but are said to have suffered only minor injuries.

Eleven others were treated on site by the emergency services and were then able to go home.

Despite the mild outcome, BBC reports of broken glass and shredded railings. One passenger suffered cuts to her face.

It is not yet clear exactly how the accident occurred.
