Despite weather warnings, the hikers made their way to Britain's highest pub near Richmond (North Yorkshire) on Saturday. A fatal mistake, as it later turned out!

In the evening, they were caught in a snowstorm on the 528-metre-high mountain peak. Since then, the 23 guests and six employees have been stuck in the pub. It is not possible to get away either on foot or by car.

Photos obtained by the British tabloid"Mirror" show meters of snow and icy conditions. It won't get any warmer over the next few days, with temperatures well below zero.

Meanwhile, the "prisoners" make themselves comfortable in the "Tan Hill Inn". Pictures show them playing cards, watching movies and drinking plenty of beer.

Food lasts for quite a while

The six employees have not yet lost their desire to work. Nobody knows how much longer they will have to serve the guests in the pub.

"Our guests have a relaxed start to the day. They are in no hurry to leave until the conditions up here have improved," the operator announced on Facebook on Monday.

While the visitors are waiting, the employees are providing them with plenty of food. The employees have been on duty for seven days in a row. One Australian guest said: "We offered to wash the dishes, but they didn't want to."

At least the hikers don't have to worry that there won't be enough food. According to the pub manager, there is enough food for around a month and enough beer for about two weeks.

This is not the first time that people have been stuck in the Tan Hill Inn in winter. Around 50 people were already trapped in the pub in 2021.
