Spectacular escape attempt: naked man (27) jumps into the water in front of police
Vienna (Austria) - A 27-year-old naked man caused a spectacular police operation on the Spittelauer Steg in Austria .

As reported by Kronen Zeitung, several passers-by called the emergency services on Monday when a young man suddenly ran around naked and screaming loudly.
The 27-year-old - a Serbian citizen according to initial information - was completely out of control and speaking incoherently.
When the police arrived at the scene, they came across the man, who was obviously under the influence of drugs . He did not react to being spoken to and could not be calmed down.
On the contrary: the man became increasingly agitated.
The man fell headfirst into the Danube Canal

When the situation threatened to escalate, the emergency services finally resorted to pepper spray - but even that had little effect at first. Only after a short time did the man slump to the ground, exhausted.
But the incident was not over yet.
Suddenly the 27-year-old jumped up again, ran to the railing - and fell headfirst into the Danube Canal.
The water police were alerted and immediately deployed. They were able to pull the man out of the water quickly, but he resisted violently. The situation only calmed down somewhat after he was handcuffed and shackled.
The man was eventually taken to hospital. The police have started an investigation.
