Surprise at the royal banquet: why the Beckhams dine with King Charles

London - No one had expected them to show up: At King Charles' (76) state banquet in honor of the ruling couple from Qatar, David (49) and Victoria Beckham (50) suddenly strolled through Buckingham Palace.

While the former professional footballer looked mischievously and confidently into the photographers' cameras, the designer - who naturally appeared in a breathtaking dress from her own brand - looked extremely insecure.

She nervously glanced around the palace's East Gallery on her way to the lavish dinner, eventually grabbing her husband's hand for help.

The footballer is said to have received the invitation to his very first state banquet due to his role as an ambassador for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The reception for Queen Camilla (77) was absolutely routine. Despite the after-effects of her pneumonia, the monarch bravely fought her way through the evening.

Her tiara and the glittering necklace worn by Queen Elizabeth (†96) also ensured that she made an absolutely radiant appearance.
