Last Saturday, 41-year-old Benjamin "Bambi" Williams was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Joana Peca in 2021.

He was also charged with two counts of child molestation, according to a statement released by the Florida State Police last Tuesday.

As People reported, he was on the run for more than three years after he lured his then-girlfriend to a cemetery and shot her dead - under the pretext of wanting to see his then-four-month-old son.

"Joana was sitting in her van holding her baby when Williams shot her multiple times in the face and killed her. Her other child was sitting in the back seat during the shooting. None of the children were injured," authorities said.

Even on an American TV show similar to our "File Number XY ... Unsolved", the case was presented in 2022, with a request for information.

A TikTok user who had seen a clip of the crime on the platform then informed the police , stating that Williams was allegedly hiding in Mexico .

He was actually found there and transferred by the authorities to the USA, where he is now in prison.

"Three years and three months is too long. He was on the run, but he couldn't hide anymore," said the mother of the murdered woman in a press conference.

She added: "Instead of picking out a white dress for my daughter's wedding, I had to find a white coffin for her funeral. As of today, Benjamin Williams' freedom is over. He will not see the light of day again. He is behind bars, where he belongs."

It is still unclear whether he will make a confession or hire a lawyer to assist him in the case.
