Tragedy at Christmas: Pigs attack pensioner (†75) and partially eat her
Pataskala (Ohio/USA) - Horrible. A pensioner from the USA was found dead in her house - mauled by her neighbor's pigs.
When Rebecca Rigney (†75) didn't show up for Christmas dinner, her niece called the police.
But by then it was already too late. Officers found the pensioner's body on the porch of her house in Pataskala (Ohio), reports WSAZ. Rebecca Rigney's battered body showed massive bite marks and parts of her leg were missing.
Police Chief Bruce Brooks is certain that pigs attacked and partially ate the pensioner. A stray pig was found where the body was found.
Two other pigs were discovered on a neighboring property, Chief Brooks confirmed to the newspaper"The Columbus Dispatch". They are believed to be the neighbor's pet pigs.
According to the coroner in charge, Rebecca Rigney bled to death due to the massive injuries caused by the farm animals. The 75-year-old had a pre-existing medical condition. Her death was classified as an accident.
A neighbor: "This is a very quiet area. Nothing happens in this area"
Residents are shocked after the horrific incident. "I've never seen pigs around here except at the market down the street. It's disturbing," neighbor David Mullings told WBNS. "This is a very quiet neighborhood. Nothing happens here."
What happens to the biting animals now is still completely unclear. The killer pigs were quarantined. So far, no criminal proceedings have been opened against the pig farmer, as the laws in the US state of Ohio do not allow for this.
"If it was a pit bull or a Rottweiler or one of the other 15 dog breeds that are considered semi-aggressive, then we would know what to do," explains police chief Brooks. "But they're farm animals, we've never dealt with anything like that here."
