Paris - Tragic accident in France : A 29-year-old woman just wanted to cool down for a moment - but the cold chamber at her gym proved to be her undoing.

As the French daily newspaper Le Parisien reports, Alison Portales was found lifeless in one of the chambers on Monday evening. A colleague discovered her - but all help came too late. The emergency services were unable to resuscitate the young woman.

Another woman (34) was also recovered from the room unconscious and in a poor condition - she has been in an induced coma ever since.

After the incident, the entire studio was evacuated and remained closed until today. Three emergency personnel were injured during the rescue.

Initial investigations point to a technical defect in the cold chamber. Apparently there was a leak in a gas cylinder, which is actually there to cool the chamber down to sub-zero temperatures. Instead, the escaping gas is said to have displaced the oxygen - with fatal consequences.

An autopsy is now to clarify the exact cause of death. The police are investigating at full speed.

Alison worked at the studio's reception desk - and was also active in the bodybuilding scene. Friends and customers are stunned by the tragic incident.
