Tragic: 80-year-old woman trapped by bed and crushed to death
St. Louis (Missouri/USA) - Tragic! An 80-year-old woman from the USA was trapped by her height-adjustable bed and died. The surviving relatives assume a malfunction and have filed a lawsuit.

It is a terrible tragedy that took place on March 1 last year in the tranquil town of Godfrey (US state of Illinois).
Grandma Rosalind was trapped in her bed for two days - only then was the pensioner found.
According to her relatives, 80-year-old Rosalind "Roz" Walker was "swallowed up" by her height-adjustable bed, reportsthe New York Post. The mattress had "sunk down without warning" and literally crushed the pensioner.
When she was found, the senior citizen was no longer well. She was immediately taken to hospital, where she died four weeks later as a result of the terrible ordeal.
Following the accident, the bereaved made serious allegations against online retailer Sleep Number and bed manufacturer Leggett & Platt. They accuse the companies of serious negligence and filed a lawsuit on Tuesday.
Pensioner had the bed delivered to her home in 2014

Angela Moan, the daughter of the deceased, only wishes for justice.
"She suffered the whole time," the bereaved states in the statement of claim, which is available to the"First Alert" portal. She is convinced that the "faulty" bed is responsible for the death of her beloved mother.
There were neither clear warnings nor a trigger mechanism. Furthermore, there was no audible warning that the bed was moving, the lawsuit stated.
The bed retailer Sleep Number intends to investigate the incident in detail. The company expressed its condolences to the bereaved.
According to what is known, the pensioner ordered the death bed in 2014 and had it delivered to her home. The manufacturer promised a 25-year guarantee.
Tragic accidents like this are rare, but they do happen. It was only in October that a very similar incident occurred: a mother of two lay down on her ottoman with gas pressure spring and was trapped and crushedbetween the mattress and slatted frame. All help came too late for her.
