Tragic incident: Toddler shoots mother (†22) in bed

Fresno (USA) - A mother (†22) died in the US state of California because her partner left the gun unattended so that her child got hold of it.

As Live 5 News reports, 22-year-old Jessinya Mina lost her life to a firearm she never wanted in her home.

The tragedy could possibly have been avoided if her boyfriend had been more responsible.

The loaded and unsecured gun was lying around carelessly in the bedroom.

According to the investigators, Jessinya's child managed to get hold of the gun.

When the child pulled the trigger, the 22-year-old, who was asleep in bed at the time, was fatally shot.

Shortly afterwards, the young woman was taken to hospital, but all help came too late - she was pronounced dead.

Her boyfriend, Andrew Sanchez, was arrested and questioned. He has been charged with child endangerment and illegal possession of a firearm and was initially taken to prison, but has since been released on bail.

The police investigation into the death is ongoing.
