As Daily Mail reports, July 28, 2024 was supposed to be a happy, summery day on the water - a day when 18-year-old Cory Chilvers wanted to try out his new two-meter kayak.
According to the Norfolk coroner's inquest report dated Jan. 8, the young man and his fiancée, Brianna Webster, were looking for a suitable place to launch the boat.
A popular swimming spot seemed to be the ideal location.
Cory paddled off full of joy, Brianna followed him on the shore. But then disaster struck: the kayak suddenly tipped over and the 18-year-old plunged into the river.
When he resurfaced, he desperately called for help, but the current immediately pulled him back under the water.
Cory was rescued lifeless from the water: could his death have been prevented?

Despite the rapid intervention of the rescue services, it took days before the young man's body could be recovered after a large-scale search operation.
A tragic accident that took his life and broke the hearts of his family and his fiancée.
The mother of the deceased criticized the fact that although the bathing area where her son died was frequently used, there were no warning signs or safety precautions in place. She said: "If rescue equipment had been available, my son could have been saved."
Out of this pain, she founded theCory Chilvers Water Safety Trust- a charity to improve protection from water accidents in Cory's memory.
Through GoFundMe, the family is raising funds to erect signs and provide rescue facilities.
