Lucy Mae Johnson, who passed away in July 2023 at the age of 95, was to be buried in a beautiful, closed casket.

Marva Lynch, Lucy's granddaughter, had chosen elegant clothes and a wig to give her grandmother a dignified last moment. But then everything turned out differently.

As Fox 5 Atlanata reports, Marva learned after the funeral service that the body in the coffin was not that of her grandmother.

According to Law & Crime, the funeral home had inadvertently dressed and placed the wrong body in the coffin and informed them of the mistake.

Now Marva is going to court . On May 1, she filed a lawsuit against the funeral home. She accuses the company of negligence and improper handling of human remains.

She is also demanding compensation for the funeral costs amounting to 9000 US dollars (around 7964 euros) as well as compensation for the emotional distress she suffered as a result of this mistake.
