US tourist traveling through Europe: He can hardly believe this difference to the States
Massachusetts/Paris - Amsterdam, Copenhagen or even Paris: US-American Ben Pike has been traveling across Europe for several weeks and has already experienced a lot there. But after a few stops, he has noticed a difference between the USA and Europe that he can hardly believe.

What he had initially considered to be a local peculiarity in Spain, Pike had to accept as the European standard in France. In mid-December, the US tourist lamented his suffering on TikTok.
"Europe is not for morning people," says Pike in the clip. The reason: in the USA, a café is always open from 5.30 am, 6 am at the latest. In Europe, on the other hand, he would generally be standing in front of closed doors until 7 a.m., often even 8 a.m., if he wanted breakfast, says the traveler.
"In America, there are always cafés or breakfast places," Pike confirmed in an interview with Newsweek this week.
However, the TikToker is not willing to let his observation stand as negative criticism. After all, he can certainly see something positive in the late opening hours.
TikTok video with the "complaint" goes viral
"In Europe, there is respect for workers," Pike told the US magazine. "Here, it's not right to expect workers to get up at 4.30am. That's a very good point. In America, you don't even think about it. If you work in a café, you have to get up that early," he added.
These are cultural differences that he didn't even think about before coming to Europe, Pike said.
His TikTok video has since received more than 700,000 clicks. In more than 6000 comments, some users, some of them definitely European, are not exactly squeamish about him. Pike is accused by several people of whining.
In the end, the American can look forward to returning to his home in Massachusetts. Because his return is imminent.
