What a doctor says to this baby after birth doesn't just move the parents to tears!
Miami (Florida) - Little Giannis from Miami saw the light of day at the beginning of December. And as if the birth wasn't already very emotional in itself, the attending gynecologist deliberately took a few minutes to give the baby a proper welcome. This gesture not only made the baby's parents cry, but also went viral on the internet.
After miscarrying at 18 weeks in 2023 and testing positive for pregnancy, the couple sought out Dr. Richard Bridgewater on the recommendation of a friend and felt heard for the first time. "He was very reassuring," Soneasha recalls to TODAY.com.
Talking to the couple, the gynecologist promised that he would not only find out the cause of the miscarriage, but also ensure that they would soon be able to hold a child in their arms.
And he was proved right: On December 8, Soneasha gave birth to her son Giannis. Instead of attending to other patients immediately after the long birth, Dr. Bridgewater stayed with the little family and gave the baby a touching welcome at around 4.30 in the morning.
A video shows the doctor lovingly holding the newborn in his arms and talking gently to him.

"I'd like to introduce you. Look how pretty you are," says Bridgewater to Giannis. "I want you to look at these wonderful people here. This is your mother and this is your father. They are the foundation of your whole life. But you have to know that your mother sacrificed so much to have you."
Afterwards, he even joins his parents in singing the classic "Happy Birthday" to remind them that it's Gianni's birthday.
"I cried," says Soneasha Baker. "It was meaningful."
The clip received thousands of clicks and comments on her Instagram page. Many of Dr. Bridgewater's former patients also got in touch and reported similar touching experiences. "He was my doctor! I can confirm that he does this with all the babies he delivers!" one user said.
Soneasha and her partner hope that other doctors will take Bridgewater as an example. "Find a gynecologist who listens to you, who is patient with you and makes you feel heard," she advises her viewers.
