Woman wants cat to be put down: When she gives the reason, everyone is shocked
Whitestone (New York/USA) - Nancy the cat (16) is already a grandma in human years. But instead of giving her a good old age, her owners wanted to get rid of her in a shocking way. Fortunately, animal rescuers intervened first.

As a spokesperson for NYC Second Chance Rescue reported on Facebook , the rescue facility had recently received a "disturbing" call. A vet informed the team that a cat had been brought to them that was about to die.
The owner of the velvet paw named "Fancy Nancy" had requested that the animal be euthanized at the veterinary clinic - for no apparent reason. The owner also explained that her husband would demand this, otherwise he would "kill the cat himself".
For the animal rescuers from the US state of New York , this was of course a shock and they immediately knew that they wanted to save Fancy Nancy from death. Especially when they found out more - tragic - details about the four-legged friend's fate.
There was also a sad reason why her owners wanted to get rid of her as quickly as possible: Nancy had previously lived with another cat who had recently died. The velvet paw therefore fell into deep mourning and even became depressed. "She withdrew and meowed constantly as she tried to find the friend who was no longer with her."
Rescuers call cat story "heartbreaking"

Her owners could not stand this for long and eventually took the 16-year-old animal to the clinic to be put down or even wanted to kill Nancy themselves.
"The whole story is simply heartbreaking", said the animal rescue spokesperson. "We've all experienced grief and loss - animals are no different. Nancy was grieving and it nearly cost her her life."
Thanks to the facility, however, the cat is now safe and waiting for a home where she can spend her final days.
The Facebook post from "NYC Second Chance Rescue" quickly went viral and reached several interested parties who agreed to take Nancy in.
Now the cat can hopefully finally experience the love and peace she deserves!
