230-kilo man discovers new hobby and loses a lot of weight: now he is unrecognizable
Ohio (USA) - 230 kilograms! Family man Ryan Grewell (36) from Ohio was once a real heavyweight - and a regular customer at fast food outlets. When he did lose a few kilos, they usually came back in double quantity a short time later. But then he swapped one addiction for another - and today he is unrecognizable.

"I traded in my binge eating for a bike addiction," Grewell recently explained in an interview with Newsweek. In addition to biking, the now 96-kilo man has specialized in counting calories. McDonald's and the like are essentially a thing of the past.
In January 2023, the US American initially tried something else to reduce his weight: Walking. "I walked at first. I ran a few blocks here and there," says Grewell.
He lost 27 kilograms relatively quickly this way. But his knees were soon no longer able to cope. So the overweight man tried his old bike.
However, there was also a real problem with this idea.

His old bike didn't last long before it literally collapsed under Grewell. Another, cheaper bike couldn't support his weight either. So his father had to dig a little deeper into his pockets.
The investment in an expensive, high-quality bike soon paid off: "Cycling was the best thing I've ever done - both mentally and physically."
The 36-year-old currently cycles several times a week. From short distances to 160 kilometers, everything is included. The pounds have just tumbled off since then.
Grewell has also built up muscles and got his cardiovascular system back on track.
"I truly believe that this journey has made me a better person, spouse, leader and father," the passionate cyclist told the US magazine.
