Fined for internet trend: Mother smashes egg on her daughter's head
Helsingborg (Sweden) - What started out as harmless fun ended up in court. The story of this young mother shows that you shouldn 't copy every internet trend .

According to a report in the Swedish newspaper"Aftonbladet", the 24-year-old mother was sentenced to a fine of 20,000 Swedish crowns (the equivalent of around 1820 euros) for abusing her own daughter.
According to the indictment, the young woman allegedly hit her then five-year-old daughter on the forehead with a raw egg while they were baking together. At the same time, she streamed the whole thing live on the social media platform Snapchat.
She is also said to have laughed "uncontrollably" at her daughter after the egg attack. The clip was viewed over 100,000 times on various platforms. In her defense, the 24-year-old only said that she always posts pranks of her and her daughter on the internet and that the egg attack was just one of these pranks.
The district court could not accurately assess the extent of the physical assault because they were unable to question the girl. Nevertheless, they assumed that the egg could have caused "slight physical discomfort" and that the mother's laughter was extremely inconsiderate.
The fact that the mother broadcast this action live on the internet also played a role in the assessment, which represented a serious invasion of the daughter's privacy.
The trend is always popular, mainly on TikTok
Trend has increased more and more since 2023
But the egg campaign in Sweden was not an isolated case. In 2023, 'cracking eggs' on the heads of young children suddenly became a trend on the social media platform TikTok . Since then, we've seen videos of just such cases time and time again.
These often show different reactions from the children, with some laughing out loud while others start to cry.
