Over 80 million clicks: Is this the most unromantic marriage proposal ever?

Cleveland (USA) - Rose petals, candles, romantic music and lots of happy tears - that's probably how most people imagine a marriage proposal. For one couple from the US state of Georgia , however, the special moment was more like an item on their to-do list. Now the engaged couple have come forward and talked about their less than romantic proposal.

Victoria Faith Brock and Payton Chambers from Cleveland had been a couple for many years and now they were about to take the next step in their relationship with a proposal.

On a sunny April day, the couple and some family members gathered on a dock.

While Victoria was chatting with a relative, her future brother-in-law suddenly pulled out his camera and filmed Payton getting down on one knee behind his girlfriend's back. With the engagement ring in his hand, he tugged at Victoria's skirt to attract her attention.

However, the unsuspecting American didn't want to interrupt their conversation at first and slapped her partner's hand away. When Payton then made a second attempt and touched his beloved on the arm, the blonde finally turned around.

Without wasting any time, the American then pressed out the question of all questions: "Victoria Faith Brock, will you marry me?" And Victoria, seemingly completely unimpressed and not very emotional, answered: "Yes, I will."

The recording, which later ended up on TikTok , received over 85 million views in a very short time. Most viewers rightly ask themselves: "Do they even know each other?" Another jokes: "This proposal could have been an email."

But why was the situation so unromantic and almost matter-of-fact?

In a later statement, it becomes clear that the video of Payton's brother did not show the whole truth. The recording by Victoria's mother, who experienced the proposal from a different perspective and filmed it for much longer, sheds a different light on the moment.

In the clip, you can see the couple embrace after saying yes and give each other a passionate kiss. It also shows the bride-to-be admiring her engagement ring in love.

Victoria revealed to People that she had been discussing pickleball plans with her future mother-in-law when her boyfriend suddenly got down on one knee.

The couple had not expected the proposal to go so viral.
