Concern about Shakira: Pop star in hospital, tour interrupted!

Lima (Peru) - Her big comeback tour only started on Tuesday, now the shock: world star Shakira (48) has to temporarily interrupt her concert series! The singer is even in hospital due to severe problems in her abdominal region. Her performance on Sunday evening in Lima has been canceled.

She was supposed to take to the stage in front of more than 40,000 fans at 8.15pm (local time) in the virtually sold-out Estadio Nacional del Perú in the Peruvian capital. But that didn't happen!

A few hours before the concert was due to start, the singer canceled her performance. A shock for many, as some fans had been eagerly awaiting a concert by the Colombian singer for years. But nobody took offense at her cancellation, because Shakira has a good reason for not appearing.

The 48-year-old is currently in hospital, as she wrote in her Instagram story on Sunday: "I'm sorry to inform you that I had to go to the emergency doctor last night due to stomach pains and am currently in hospital," said the "Waka Waka" performer.

The doctors had forbidden her to perform. "I was looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru," she said, expressing her dismay. She did not say when exactly she would be back on stage or whether her stomach problems had a more serious cause.

Shakira's "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour" still has to be interrupted in week 1

Now fans all over the world - especially in South and North America - are hoping that the singer will soon feel better. Her big "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour" had only started five days before her concert in Brazil was canceled.

This is Shakira's first tour in seven years! Accordingly, she wanted to start the concerts on her home continent. The Colombian will be touring Latin America until the beginning of April - health permitting.

In May and June, five performances in the USA would then be on her program. Whether she will then continue her tour in late summer and fall in the rest of the world, including Germany and Europe, has not yet been announced.
