USA - Pregnancies - and births in particular - are not always without complications. Even stars like Hailey Bieber (28) are not spared. In a moving interview, the model now talks for the first time about how she narrowly escaped death during the birth of her son.

In an interview with Vogue, she openly describes how dramatic the delivery in August 2024 was.

The birth of her little son Jack was anything but easy.

Although she was able to deliver her baby in good health, she suffered a severe postpartum haemorrhage shortly afterwards - a complication that can be life-threatening.

While the doctors fought for her life, her son was taken out of the room.

"I trust my doctor with my life. That's why I was calm inside because I knew she would never let anything happen to me. But I was bleeding really badly - and people die from that. That thought goes through your head," the brunette explains.

The weeks following the birth were also anything but easy for the 28-year-old. The model struggled with body image issues and "self-hatred".

She says she specifically sought out nasty comments about her appearance - as confirmation that she didn't look good - but felt even worse afterwards and resented having looked at all.

"I have to tell myself every day, 'Hailey, you had a baby. You've grown a person inside you. You gave birth to a human being. It's okay. Have mercy on yourself. Give yourself time,'" said the 28-year-old.

Hailey and Justin Bieber (31) have been married since September 2018. In recent months, the pop star's conspicuous behavior in particular has caused a stir and speculation about a possible marital crisis.

Despite everything, the couple remain together and continue to act as one.
