Music world in mourning: "The Alarm" singer Mike Peters (†66) dies of cancer

Manchester (Great Britain) - Singer Mike Peters , best known for the Welsh band "The Alarm", has died of cancer at the age of 66.

According to the BBC , the frontman died of blood cancer on Tuesday after battling the disease tirelessly for almost 30 years.

The Welsh musician was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia at the age of 36. A shock that changed his life forever.

In the 1980s, Peters celebrated international success with "The Alarm". Hits such as "68 Guns" and "Strength" made him famous.

He shared the stage with music greats such as U2, Queen and Bob Dylan.

But Peters was more than just a rock star. Together with his wife Jules (58), he founded the Love Hope Strength Foundation to raise awareness of bone marrow donations and recruit potential donors at concerts.

Mike Peters is survived by his wife and two sons: Dylan (20) and Evan (18).

In an interview with Guitar World magazine in 2017, Peters said moving words:
"Stay alive and cherish every second you have. Live to your last breath and stay positive about the world, your family and the environment you live in."
