The scenes that unfolded in the small Mexican town of Tekit on Tuesday were horrific. This is reported by the newspaper"El Universal".

When Maria N. (59) was beaten to death in her own home, suspicion immediately fell on Ismael N., known as "El Wero". Residents claim to have observed how the 21-year-old entered the popular neighbor's home with a piece of wood in his hand, came out a short time later and behaved suspiciously.

After finding Maria's dead body, the residents alerted the police. A short time later, the mentally impaired "El Wero" was taken into custody. He hid on the roof of his parents' house and his mother urged him to surrender.

Then the horror took its course. As Ismael N. sat in the police car, the lynch mob formed. The angry crowd pulled the 21-year-old out of the police car. Then they carried out cruel vigilante justice. Ismael N. was brutally lynched and died as a result of violent beatings with fists and clubs.

Numerous onlookers stood by and watched, some filmed the horrific spectacle, many cheered on the killers.

When they had finished with Ismael, they dragged the maltreated corpse to the central square, doused it with petrol and set it alight.

The killers later gave frank interviews, claiming that Ismael N. had murdered a young man with a pickaxe four years ago. According to reports, no one has been arrested so far.

For the mayor of the municipality, José Antonio Hernández Sosa, however, the gruesome lynching is an "unfortunate isolated case". He praised the police for their "responsible actions".

Church representatives, human rights activists and politicians were horrifiedby the gruesome case of vigilante justice . They condemned the gruesome crime and expressed their condolences to the bereaved.
