Graduation trip turns into a horror trip: student mutilated by boat propeller
Nassau (Bahamas) - They were on their way back to their cruise ship when they suddenly heard screams from the stern of the ship. Hannah (22), a US-American student, went overboard and got caught in the ship's propellers!

According to an article in theDaily Mail, the tragic accident occurred last Monday in the port of the Bahamian capital Nassau .
There, 22-year-old Hannah Smith is said to have suddenly fallen off the ferry. Unfortunately, she fell in such a way that she was sucked in by the ship's propellers and was seriously injured as a result. The sharp-edged propeller sliced open the young woman's lower body and almost severed her leg.
The water around Hannah immediately turned blood red, but two young women selflessly grabbed the 22-year-old and pulled her out of the water and back onto the ship. Hannah was taken to a nearby hospital shortly afterwards and then transferred to Tennessee, where she has been fighting for her life ever since.
According to initial police investigations, it is believed that the young woman was drunk at the time of the accident and jumped into the water herself.
Parents deny their daughter's alcohol intoxication as the cause

But Hannah's mother Tracy denies these accusations. She says: "Hannah wasn't drunk. She fell off the boat. It's painful to say that she jumped herself because she didn't do it."
She suspects that a technical failure was the cause of the accident. She thinks that a safety mechanism didn't work properly or that the boat swayed. Her father Marvin, who spoke to a doctor in Nassau, also said that there were no indications that Hannah was drunk. The police investigation is still ongoing.
Hannah was in the Bahamas to celebrate her college graduation with her best friend Brooklyn. The 22-year-old had previously graduated with top marks in her communications degree.
In order to pay for the costly operations, the Smith family set up a donation account on the GoFundMewebsite, which has already raised over 33,000 US dollars.
