As Mirror reports, the senior citizens, who live in a care home, quickly took up knitting needles and wool and conjured up a blanket for the little rhino Hercules from South Africa.

The three-week-old animal had previously suffered several broken bones, bruises and infected wounds during an attack.

The animal-loving grannies decided to help Hercules recover and regain his strength and knitted numerous small squares with donated wool, which they then sewed together to make a colorful blanket.

The women spent many hours on their project, putting a lot of heart and dedication into every stitch.

Once the blanket was finished, they sent their joint creation over 5000 kilometers to the rhino sanctuary in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

Everyone was deeply moved when they saw a photo of Hercules snuggled up in the handmade piece a little later.

This moment filled the women with great joy and happiness and will probably remain in their memories forever.
