Major operation at teen birthday party: Parents accidentally invite 400 people!

Blanden - A wrong click on Facebook meant that a birthday party in a small Belgian town had to be broken up by a large police force on Saturday night.

The parents of a 16-year-old girl only wanted to invite "a few friends" to the party via social media, a spokesperson for the local police told the Belgian magazine"VRT Nieuws".

Due to a faux pas, "a few" ultimately turned into a crowd of around 400 party-happy strangers, who turned the teen's birthday party into a Belgian version of the legendary movie "Project X" with lots of alcohol and illegal fireworks.

Apparently, the parents had inadvertently created a public group on Facebook for their daughter's party. The police spoke of a "misplaced cross".

The crowd for the 16th birthday was ultimately so huge that the emergency services had to call in reinforcements. However, no one was arrested.

The officers were busy dispersing the party crowd until around 1 am. Apart from a few people who had to be taken to hospital due to their excessive alcohol consumption, the operation went off without incident.
