Mourning for "Polly Pocket" creator: Torquil Norman (†91) has died

Great Britain - Torquil Norman, the founder of the toy brand Polly Pocket, died on Wednesday at the age of 91.

As the Daily Mail reports, his son Jesse Norman confirmed the sad news at his funeral service today (Thursday), describing him as an "extraordinary man".

Torquil Norman served in the military, made a career as an investment banker - but his greatest legacy was in the toy world.

He made history when he founded Bluebird Toys and created Polly Pocket - the small, foldable doll's house that fitted perfectly into every child's hand. It became an absolute cult toy in the 90s.

Thanks to its portability and clever design, it was impossible to imagine a child's bedroom without Polly Pocket.

The company achieved sales of over 100 million pounds (around 119 million euros) with the popular mini world .
