Newly engaged couple dies in hotel: arrest after tragic incident

Vietnam - The mysterious death of a newly engaged couple shook the world - now the first arrest has been made in connection with the case.

The death of Greta Marie Otteson (†33) and Arno Els Quinton (†36) on December 26, 2024 initially raised many questions.

As has since become known, the couple died of severe methanol poisoning after drinking limoncello laced with dangerous methanol.

The investigation eventually led to a 45-year-old bartender, Le Tan Gia, who is suspected of serving the deadly lemon liqueur in a Thai bar.

As reported by theDaily Mail , the man has since been arrested and is now facing charges for food safety violations.

According to the investigators, Le Tan Gia allegedly served the couple in the bar at around 3.30 p.m. on December 24 .

He is said to have mixed two bottles of "homemade" limoncello from medical alcohol, which was actually only intended for disinfection, filtered water, lemon peel and sugar.

Shortly after drinking the dangerous drink, the couple collapsed. A short time later, the two were found lifeless in different hotel rooms by resort staff.

The police have not yet finally closed the case and investigations are continuing.
