Jake Lawler suffered from a rare heart muscle disease

What initially seemed like an unforeseeable misfortune turned out to be the result of a rare genetic heart muscle disease after an examination.
Jake, known for his dedication on the soccer pitch, had already been treated in a hospital in Manchester a month earlier after suddenly experiencing shortness of breath during a match.
At the time, doctors were unable to determine the exact cause. Today it is clear that the undetected illness ultimately claimed the 15-year-old's life.
In a moving post on Facebook , Sale High School expressed its deepest sympathy and offered its full support to Jake's family as well as the students and staff of the school.
A memorial fundhas been set up inmemory of the young athlete to raise awareness of sudden cardiac death in young people, support affected families and promote research in this area.
