Five fishermen were catching fresh fish when their fishing boat broke down fifty-five days ago.

This or something similar could be the story of Vladimir González (32), José Albines (52), José Gabriel Albines (31), Jorge Ugarte (40) and Jhonny García (age unknown), who set sail off the Peruvian coast on March 12.

Two days after they set off, their boat's alternator was damaged. The five-man crew and their boat then disappeared from the scene for almost two months.

As the Ecuadorian navy has now announced, the castaways were unexpectedly discovered on May 7 by the crew of an Ecuadorian tuna boat. The boat, which had been missing for a long time, was no longer able to be towed away due to its condition and so the navy rushed to help.

Despite the long time at sea, the fishermen remained physically unharmed.

The five fishermen were probably taken to a safe harbor on the Galapagos Islands and given medical treatment. According to the navy, they are all in a "stable condition".
