Used for likes? Homeless TikTok celebrity "Sheffield Keeley" is dead

Sheffield (England, United Kingdom) - TikTok celebrity "Sheffield Keeley" has died at the age of 34. She gained fame through her singing and dancing, which was posted online by other users of the app. A charity organization accuses users of merely exploiting the homeless woman.

Tim Renshaw, the head of the Archer Project in South Yorkshire , told the BBC that vulnerable Keeley had been "exploited just for likes" by social media users. He knew Keeley and her "extremely vulnerable character".

Renshaw described Keeley being "paid to be on social media, swim in fountains in the middle of winter or dance like a clown when drunk". Videos of the recently homeless and apparently alcoholic woman can be found on TikTok and have been viewed millions of times.

"What I find most offensive is the voyeurism. People filming and saying how wonderful she is, but they value her for her entertainment factor, not as a human being," says Renshaw.

According to the BBC, South Yorkshire Police initially reported that a 34-year-old woman had been found unconscious at Arundel Gate in Sheffield - as it turned out: "Sheffield Keeley". As a result, a woman (47) was arrested on suspicion of administering a poisonous substance. She has since been released.

The authorities are still investigating the circumstances of Keeley's death.
