The 21-year-old had applied for a job in marketing and actually got it after an elaborate application procedure, writes News.com.au.

The young applicant first had to complete a 15-minute interview with a recruiter, then a video screening that was sent to a media agency.

She continued with a Zoom interview with two of her potential colleagues, followed by a 45-minute aptitude test and a one-hour final interview with the CEO.

The various tests took around two weeks and Lorin was finally offered the job. The recruiter promised to send the contract offer soon. A few days later, the lady contacted Lorin by telephone and announced that the job offer had to be withdrawn. The company had realized that the funds for a new recruitment were not available.

"They had mentioned in the phone call that they would have had to let me go in a few months if they had hired me," said Lorin Deveaux. Tears streamed down the woman's face as she told TikTok about it.

"I don't normally cry in front of the camera, but I want to warn people because I've never heard of anything like this happening," the woman in her mid-twenties shared. However, she found out in the comments that other people had had similar experiences.

She had initially announced the happy news to her friends and family, but then had to backtrack on the personal decision.

The Australian was glad that she had not announced the news to her old employer and was at least able to continue working there. Nevertheless, the 21-year-old is still smarting from the rejection.

She describes the job market episode as "painful and confusing".
