When Jacob asked her to be his wife, Star immediately said: "Yes!" But on their wedding day, of all days, their love was put to the test. The couple told their story to NBC DFW.

They had been planning the wedding for the 17th of April for a year and had put a lot of thought into it, as they wanted everything to be perfect.

"The venue was stunning," Star recalls. "It was rather small. We had about 130 people. It was beautiful. We tried to focus on all the beautiful moments of the day before everything else happened."

They cut the wedding cake to applause, followed by the first dance. The atmosphere was exuberant, the wedding couple was beaming.

The dance floor had just been opened, Jacob explains - but then his beloved star suffered a momentous mishap. She took an unfortunate tumble and hit her head on the hard concrete floor. "It really was a crazy accident," says the bride. "I fell headfirst onto the concrete floor and fractured my skull."

Star was immediately rushed to hospital and spent four days in intensive care fighting for her life. The doctors diagnosed a skull fracture and a dangerous brain haemorrhage. Jacob never left her side.

Star has since been allowed to leave the hospital again. However, they had to cancel their honeymoon. The young woman first had to fight her way back to life. "I wasn't able to do anything on my own, including walking, going to the toilet, showering," Star reported on Facebook. She is now doing much better.

She knows: "Without Jacob, I wouldn't be recovering as well as I am. He has done more than could ever be expected of him."

"A lot of people have asked about me and I've said, 'I'm fine. I'm not the one who just fell," says Jacob, on the other hand. He just wants to be there for his wife during this difficult time, which is the most important thing for him. "That's what marriage is all about: being ready to act in good times and bad," explains the husband firmly.

The doctors expect a favorable prognosis. Fortunately, Star does not have to fear any permanent damage.

The traumatic experience has brought Star and Jacob even closer together. They know that they are meant to be together and hope that one day they will remember the failed wedding fondly .
