Referee goes down: soccer star Jamie Vardy reacts so strangely
Leicester (England) - It is often said: " Football writes its own stories." But this curious scene was certainly not in the script. After referee David Webb goes to ground, Leicester striker Jamie Vardy (38) takes over the whistle.

On Saturday afternoon, Leicester City and Southampton faced off in the basement of the English Premier League. Although both teams are already safely relegated, the home side won the head-to-head with a 2:0 victory.
However, a curious scene occurred on the pitch at the end of the first half. A collision occurred between referee David Webb and Leicester right-back Jordan Ayew (33) during a back-heel. Ayew apparently hit the first official on the neck with his shoulder, causing Webb to immediately collapse.
But as the ball was already on the other half of the pitch, not all the players noticed the knocked-out referee and played on undeterred.
Leicester icon Jamie Vardy then rushed to Webb, who was lying on the ground, grabbed his arm where the referee was holding his whistle and interrupted the game with a loud whistle.
Even after a lengthy break for treatment, Webb was unable to continue and was then replaced by fourth official Sam Barrott.
Jamie Vardy scores 199th goal for Leicester City
Jamie Vardy is not only a living club legend, but also the Foxes' top scorer. In Saturday's match against Southampton, he scored his 199th goal for the club he has now called home for 13 years.
But after the season, Vardy will have to say goodbye - his contract will not be renewed.
